AEB is hosted by A.J. & Michelle.
A.J. is a film studies professor and an avid home cook and home baker. His food writing has appeared in the pages of Food & Wine, Gourmet.com, Budget Travel, The Gazette, and The Montreal Mirror.
Michelle is a professional chef. She was the co-chef of the Société des arts technologiques' Foodlab from 2011-2016, and the pastry chef at Laloux before that. Recently, she was the pastry chef at Elena (2021) and Gia (2021-2023), and now she’s thrilled to be joining the team at Pâtisserie Rhubarbe.
Her recipes have appeared in numerous newspapers, magazines, and cookbooks, including Ricardo, La Presse, The Gazette, Elle Québec, and Les Touilleurs by François Longpré and Sylvain Côté, and she has worked as a food stylist and recipe tester & developer on several cookbooks, including Camilla Wynne’s Jam Bake: Inspired Recipes for Creating and Baking With Preserves and Elena’s Salad, Pizza, Wine and Many More Good Things From Elena,
Both of us collect and devour cookbooks and food lit of all kinds. We were inspired to start AEB by people like Alan Davidson, Patience Gray, Richard Olney, John Thorne, Calvin Trillin, and Paula Wolfert, and publications like The Art of Eating, Petits Propos Culinaires, and Simple Cooking.
We began documenting our adventures in food, drink, and travel from our home base in Montreal in 2004. In 2014 we established a base in Vermont, as well. We’ve been splitting our time between Southwestern Ontario, Montreal, and Vermont since 2015.
